Flamenco de la Costa was founded in 1998
by Naomi Vail and her Daughter , Sarah Vail Anders.
They started their study of Flamenco  with Julia Lopez in Philadelphia
(of Flamenco Ole!)  in 1989.
In 1998 they  relocated to Jacksonville Florida.  Searching for Flamenco Classes they
found there was no one in the Northeast of Florida offering Classes.
Naomi came in contact with Teo Morca who at the time was
living in Gainesville, FL.  She and Sarah had the good fortune
of taking private classes with Teo, until he moved to Costa
Rico.  Then a chance meeting with Dulce Anaya of the
Jacksonville Ballet Theatre got the ball rolling.  Dulce invited
Naomi to teach a few Sevillanas to some of her Ballet Students.
As luck would have it, word of mouth grew and more and more
people expressed an interest in  learning Flamenco.
Soon after, Ralph Ramirez of Boleros Dancesport invited Naomi to join their
studio and continue the classes there. Since then the group has grown to include
2 guitarists and a children's group. Flamenco de la Costa is  now part of the
network of highly respected Artists in Jacksonville.
Only a few weeks after opening at Boleros, we had the good fortune of meeting up
with Curtis Price, one of the first a foremost Flamenco guitarists in Jacksonville.
Shortly thereafter, we were also joined by Santiago Carrizosa.  Both are  excellent
guitarists and completely dedicated to the success of the group.
Above, and below, is the sister team of Kelsey and Brianna DeJesus.  Kelsey
and Brianna started their instruction with us at a very young age.  Sadly, for
us, they moved to Oklahoma where they have continued their studies in
Flamenco and  Spanish Dance.  Here you see them winning first place in a
recent Flamenco Competition.  Congratulations girls!  We are so proud of
you!  Sigue Bailando!!!
